Heavy-Duty Wrecker Operator

Heavy Wrecker Operator is responsible for transporting goods from one place to another using heavy or tractor-trailer trucks. Operates trucks with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds per gross vehicle weight.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Transport, pick up and recover heavy trucks
• Meet all Federal DOT requirements and standards
• Keep electronic logs if travel over 150 air miles radius
• Remove and Replace installing tow lights
• Properly tie down vehicle and safety chains
• Fill up on fuel, clean truck, and wash windows
• Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road
• Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion
• Pre / Post inspection on vehicle
• Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
• Keep their truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order
• Fill out paperwork completely and daily
• All other duties assigned by management

Qualifications and Skills:
– Towing and Recovery Experience preferred.
– Formal industry training a plus
– High school diploma or equivalent
– Class A CDL, DOT and current Medical Card
– Must be able to pass a drug screen and DOT physical
– Must be able to pass a criminal background check
– Preference given to all recognized certifications
